A nanny has been jailed after she was caught on a hidden camera shoving a soiled baby wipe down a baby’s throat.
Elvira Talavera Perez was also secretly filmed by a ‘nanny-cam’ dropping a soiled diaper on the 10-month-old boy in her care.
The 43-year-old had been hired by a family in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in July 2011 to look after their newborn son.

But after five months they noticed jewellery,including gold chains and earrings, had gone missing from their home.
The parents and set up a hidden ‘nanny-cam’ inside their bedroom to see if Perez was responsible for the alleged thefts.
Police said the parents expected to catch Perez stealing items but were horrified to see their son allegedly being abused.
Investigators said the video showed Perez shoving a soiled wipe into the baby’s mouth.

On another occasion she is alleged to have dropped a soiled diaper on to the baby’s face as he lay on the changing mat.
The tapes also showed Perez, who also uses the name Elvira Torres, taking items of jewelry from the parents’ bedroom.
The father handed the tape to Las Cruces police who launched an investigation into the alleged abuse.
Perez was arrested after a two months investigation and is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.
She had been charged with three counts of negligent child abuse.
